Who are we?
Hi, I’m Ali Draper, the founder of Involving Communities. I have over 25 years experience working with the public, private and third sectors.
In addition to many courses focusing on specific groups in society – and different ways of engaging with them – I studied at the University of Keele, gaining a first class honours degree in Social Anthropology & Sociology and Applied Social Studies. This has given me an academic insight into the culture of communities, their formation and cohesion – or otherwise, and an arsenal of techniques and methods for working with and alongside your community (of staff, users of service, beneficiaries and customers).
I consider myself to be a life long learner and have continued my professional development with the Certificate in Professional Fundraising, awarded by the Institute of Fundraising and Open University, and more recently the MA in Voluntary and Public Sectors:Policy and Process.
Involving Communities is a small consultancy largely working independently; we work collaboratively with other professionals at times when different skills or more hands are required. We work with translators and interpreters, graphic designers, legal professionals, and recruit community representatives to support us when necessary and appropriate.
Communities can be of interest or of geography.
A community could be everyone who lives on the same street or in the same village, or the staff at your local supermarket or the stakeholders of a charity, community group or company.
Our values of honesty, integrity and commitment are important to us.
We are genuine and straightforward in all our dealings with clients and their communities.
We provide competent and creative services and value for money.
Our drivers are justice, tolerance and equality.
